2019 BMW Z4 Debuts In The Philippines With A P3.990M Starting Price

The German twin of the Toyota GR Supra is now officially on sale.

The BMW Z line of roadsters have all made an iconic mark into the history of BMW, and its latest iteration, the all-new Z4, has finally made its way into the Philippines, along with the all-new 3 Series. The German half of the Toyota and BMW sports car collaboration, the other of course being the GR Supra, is now officially on sale across all BMW showrooms in the country, effectively beating its Japanese half into the market.

With its typical dynamic proportions, thanks to its long hood, short rear deck design, the BMW Z4 evokes a more dynamic and progressive silhouette compared to its predecessor. For the first time in a BMW, vertically-stacked LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, the signature BMW kidney grille with a mesh design, as well as the large side air vents give the Z4 a very dynamic look. Meanwhile, the rear integrated spoiler give the rear fascia a clean look. BMW has ditched the folding metal roof design for a more conventional fabric roof, and this creates a host of improvements with the all-new Z4’s handling characteristics.

Inside, the BMW Z4 has a driver-oriented design, with all the interior’s lines and switchgear creating an environment that’s angled towards the driver. The BMW Z4 features the brand’s new BMW Operating System 7.0, which can either be controlled by the traditional rotary knob on the center console or via the touch screen. The Z4 M40i also features BMW’s Live Cockpit, which is the brand’s latest iteration of its 12.3-inch TFT LCD screen instrument cluster. A head-up display is offered in the Z4 M40i, as well as other active safety features such as the Reversing Assistant, which automatically remembers the last 50 meters the car drove and then relays the steering in reverse. There’s also a Park Distance Control with a reverse camera for easier parking.

BMW Philippines unveiled two variants for the Z4. The entry-level model is the Z4 sDrive20i, which uses an inline-4 turbocharged petrol engine, producing 197 hp and of 320 Nm torque, enough for a 0-100 kph time of 6.6 seconds, all the way to a 240 kph top speed. Meanwhile, the top trim Z4 M40i features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 producing 335 hp and 450 Nm of torque, with a 0-100 kph time of 4.5 seconds all the way to a top speed of 250 kph. Both engines power the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the Z4 M40i features a sports suspension with electronically controlled dampers, M Sport braking system and an electronically controlled M Sport differential in the rear axle transmission.

As mentioned, the BMW Z4 is now on sale in the Philippines with an attractive starting price of P3,990,000 for the Z4 sDrive20i, while the Z4 M40i has a starting price of P5,790,000.
