SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. (SMCACDC), the exclusive importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, opens up a new chapter in the brand’s line-up with the launch of the first ever BMW X2.
The BMW X2 cuts a sublime figure from any angle. Its stance on the road recalls a finely-tuned athlete and fuses the rugged profile typical of a BMW X model with the sporting grace of a coupe. Highlighting the X2’s individualistic design include wheel arches with a squared-off look, striking exhaust tailpipes and accentuated side skirts. Being a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC), the X2’s silhouette is sleeker, with a gently sloping roofline, and a slick side profile. The brand’s signature kidney grille now broadens towards the bottom, a first for any BMW. Meanwhile, at the car’s C-pillar, the additional BMW roundel references a much loved detail of classical BMW coupes, such as the 2000 CS and 3.0 CSL, highlighting the sporting DNA of the BMW X2.
At launch, the Philippine-market BMW X2 will be sold in one variant, the xDrive20d M Sport X. As such, the BMW X2 features Frozen Grey exterior highlights, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels that give the BMW X2 a more striking appearance.
Drivers will be greeted inside the X2 xDrive20d M Sport X with an enticing Micro Hexagon fabric/Alcantara Anthracite interior combination with contrast stitching for the instrument panel and centre console. Ambient interior lighting provides an excellent interior atmosphere for the occupants, and can be customized through six different colors. BMW iDrive takes center stage, which is displayed via a 6.5-inch “floating” TFT LCD screen and the iDrive controller located just behind the gear shifter.
Under the hood of the BMW X2 xDrive20d M Sport X is a 2.0 liter inline-4 turbocharged diesel engine producing 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque. All these are sent through an xDrive all-wheel drive system, via an 8-speed automatic. 0-100 kph is achieved in 7.7 seconds.
At launch, the BMW X2 xDrive20d M Sport X will come equipped with M Sport suspension, Parking Assistant that provides automated steering assist when parking, as well as Comfort Access passive entry and start.
The BMW X2 xDrive20d M Sport X will be sold in three colors, Galvanic Gold. Misano Blue, and Sunset Orange, for an introductory price of P4,390,000
